A Little Unscattered newsletter by Kris Licata. Issue #005: The hidden cost of saying YES to everything.

Hey there,

Quick question: How many amazing opportunities did you say yes to last month?

New collaboration? Yes.

Exciting side project? Yes.

Course you've been wanting to take? Yes.

Redesigning your entire website? Yes.

Here's what nobody tells you about all those yeses: Every single one was secretly a NO to something else.

And if you're like most ambitious humans I know, you probably had no idea what you were actually saying no to.

The Yes/No Math You're Not Seeing

When you said yes to that collaboration, you were saying no to focusing on your existing clients.

When you said yes to starting that new project, you were saying no to launching the program you've been planning for months.

When you said yes to redesigning everything, you were saying no to the revenue-generating activities that actually move your business forward.

But here's the thing... If you can't see all your options at once, how could you possibly know what you're saying no to?

It's like trying to budget without knowing how much money you have. Sure, you might make decent individual decisions, but you're flying blind on the bigger picture.

The Clarity Game-Changer

I learned this the hard way after years of scattered decision-making. The moment I could see all my ideas laid out in front of me, everything changed.

Suddenly, I wasn't just reacting to whatever felt most urgent. I was making conscious choices about where to invest my time and energy.

The entrepreneur who finally organizes their ideas? They stop starting over every week. They pick one thing and follow through because they can see how it fits into the bigger picture.

Your Strategic View Challenge

Here's your challenge for this week:

Dump all your current ideas, projects, and opportunities onto paper. Everything you're considering, working on, or "might do someday."

If it's on your mind, put it on paper.

Then ask yourself: "If I could only pursue three of these in the next three months, which three would move me closest to where I want to be?"

That's it. That's your focus list.

Everything else is what you're consciously choosing to say NO to right now. (Deep breath... it's just a no right now. Not forever.)

And here's the beautiful part. When you can see the trade-offs, saying no stops feeling like you're missing out. It starts feeling like you're making strategic choices.

Your ideas aren't the problem.
Your system for choosing between them is.

Cheers to getting a little more unscattered!
